Miller & Carter is a steak house which specialises in 30-day aged British steaks. Cuts include ribeye, fillet and sirloin, to name a few, or for those who aren’t a lover of steak, serve juicy burgers, barbecue ribs to freshly prepared fish dishes. I’ve been to the Chelmsford branch 3 times in the past year and it is the perfect treat. Today, I’m going to focus on the steak dishes as I can’t sing my praises high enough for them.
I always opt for the nachos and cheesy garlic bread for starters. The nachos are made from a range of tortilla chips including pesto chip ones. It’s then piled high with a sweet salsa, smooth guacamole and cool sour cream. With a handful of jalepenos on top for good measure! A little while after the starter, but before the main, those who order steak receive a lettuce wedge with a topping of choice. There’s prawn cocktail with croutons, garlic mayonnaise and many more toppings. I found it a little odd at first, but it’s surprisingly refreshing!
Next comes the main, steak. I have to admit, this is the first place I have ever tried steak and I’m now hooked to it. When it comes to ordering steak, you can chose from a wide range of cuts and chose how to have it cooked. Medium rare for me! You have a choice of steak sauce (chimichurri is the best for garlic lovers like moi) and a choice of normal or sweet potato chips on the side. A side of onion loaf comes with the steak too. ONION LOAF IS SO DAMN GOOD. I don’t know what’s inside it, or how it’s made, but it’s a delicious oniony, crispy accompaniment. You also have the option to order sides to accompany the steak, too. I always opt for lobster mac & cheese – incredibly cheesy, gooey and delicious! My parents love the Surf & Turf or the garlic button mushrooms.
If you’ve found the room, it’s dessert next. We always have the chocolate brownies stack – gooey and very chocolately with fresh ice cream – or the banoffee pie, which is beautifully presented and glazed on top. As you can see… I’m in love with Miller & Carter! I recommend all foodies to check this steak house out. It’s a fairly pricey evening, but you receive food of a high quality and makes for the perfect treat!
