Riding a motorbike is an excellent way to explore nature; especially with the beautiful landscapes we have here in Essex. Before you set about trying to find the best bike trails, you should first buy the best bike suitable for the kind of adventure you’re going on. Several motorbike shops in Essex will give you a wide variety of bike options to choose from depending on your money and the specifications you’re looking for. Having the right gear and knowing the right time to go riding also helps!
When looking for family-friendly motorbike rides, it’s better to go with something popular to avoid getting lost. Widely used rides also make it easier to get assistance when necessary. You have to start at some point, but to get the most out of the experience, you can ride in a loop to end up where you started. Most beginners start from Harlow and travel through several towns before getting back.
Harlow
Harlow has some of the best bike rides with some of the best roads that twist meander across the countryside. The roads allow you to get the most out of what nature presents, and they are all maintained correctly. The tide passes through areas like Ongar, Hatfield Heath, and Thaxted. The twists and turns can be challenging for a beginner, but the smooth tarmac makes the ride easier.
Finchingfield
This is usually a favorite spot for many riders to stop for refreshments. Finchingfield has a bike route that passes through Wethersfield and Sible Hedingham. Like the Harlow ride, this one also has many turns with steep bends. There are also a few hedges to enhance your visibility, so make use of them.
Halstead
When riding from Halstead, you need to brace up for a hill. This is one of the most exciting parts of the ride, but it leads to A1124 and Colne that most riders find boring. From Colne, you will discover another rural route that needs some level of caution. If you’re not careful here, you may end up with a puncture. You can go through Colchester and Abberton Reservoir, which all have great roads with a lot of magnificent scenery to take in and sometimes have a lot of tourists.
West Mersea
When you get to West Mersea, you can pass through Blackwater estuary, Bradwell, and Burnham-on-Crouch. You can also pass through Maldon from where you can ride on a twisted road that takes you through some of the small villages. From Burnham-on-Crouch, you can take the Burnham Bends to South Woodham Ferrers. The roads here are usually busy, so expect some company. You can then get to East & West Hanningfield, Stock and Ingatestone, and Blackmore before reaching A414 that will get you back to Harlow.
Having motorbike insurance before starting the trip is a good idea because it helps you plan for the unexpected. You should also keep track of the fuel and fill up whenever necessary. Don’t underestimate the fuel level because some of these roads can be deserted.
