Introduction To Seventeen Cosmetics

Seventeen Cosmetics is a brand that I have never tried before, and I must admit it’s because I thought it was aimed at a younger target audience trying makeup for the first time. Alas I was wrong…

Seventeen have recently launched a Seventeen Network, where bloggers can share reviews of Seventeen products, watch makeup tutorials and learn about the latest makeup trends. In collaboration with this, I was kindly sent a goodie bag of Seventeen products to try out!

*Seventeen Define & Conquer Kit £5.99

The Contour Kit was the product I was most looking forward to trying. I’ve tried a few contouring products, mainly in sticks and liquids, but didn’t get on too well with them. This palette however has two powders which don’t look scary to use at all. The darker powder is to be applied to the hollows of your cheeks, jawline, the sides of your chin, down the sides of your nose and along your hairline. Once buffed in, it’s on to the highlighter. The highlighter is applied to the centre of your forehead, the top of your cheek bones and down the centre of your face to your chin. Once buffed in… you’re good to go! The handy step-by-step guide inside is a big help for a novice like me, and I loved the finished look. My skin looked fresh and glowing, I’m so looking forward to using this kit again!

*Seventeen Brows That! Brow Kit £5.99

I’m a firm Benefit lover when it comes to doing my brows – nothing can ever replace my Browzings and Gimmie Brow combination! But this Seventeen brows kit is actually pretty good for day to day use. This kit contains a pencil, wax, setting powder, highlighter and a brush. The how-to guide is super handy too for anyone who’s a little unsure on how to fill in their brows. I like how soft the pencil is, it’s easy to do small, soft strokes to fill in any patches. The wax is also soft and mess-free, making the application smooth and hassle free. The setting powder and highlighter work well together, creating natural looking brows in minutes.

*Seventeen Instant Glow Shimmer Block £4.99

This Shimmer Block is said to be a dupe for the Bobbi Brown shimmer blocks, so I was excited to use it. I tried it out using a blusher brush but found the colours to be slightly too dark for my face. When I try it again next time I’ll definitely stick to the top three shades as they gave me a lovely glow. What I didn’t know however, was that the block can be used as an all over blusher, or the shades can be used individually to contour and highlight, or the shades can even be used as eyeshadows! Phew, what a product.

*Seventeen Instant Glow Skin Wow! Tan £5.99

The Instant Glow Skin Tan is a bronzing liquid which can be used for contouring, or dabbed onto cheek bones to lift, lighten and wake up your skin with a luminous glow. Once I’d moisturised and popped on a primer, I dabbed this onto my face and blended it in – it gave me a lovely glow and base to pop foundation on top of! I only needed and used a pea size amount, and that was enough to buff into my skin.

*Seventeen Stay Pout Lipstick £4.49

I love lipsticks and my favourite brand has to be No7, but Seventeen is now a close second! I was sent Date Night – a gorgeous orange-red shade. All 15 lipsticks contain shea butter, making the formula really nourishing on the lips. It was easy to apply and only bled slightly – but I’m sure that could’ve been avoided had I used a lip liner. I actually really like this shade on me, so I’m definitely going to see what other shades would suit me.

All of the packaging is really sturdy and has that satisfying “click” when you shut them; there’s no fear of these products smashing in the bottom of bags either. All in all, I am thoroughly impressed by this brand and I can’t wait to try out more of their products, including this Skin Wow Primer and the infamous Phwoarr Concealer!

Have you tried Seventeen before? What do you think of my finished look?

I first tried Seventeen years ago when I started using make up and wasn't overly impressed. By the looks of your pictures (which are amazing by the way) and the descriptions it seems that Seventeen have stepped up their game. I'm rather tempted by the Define & Conquer kit!

I haven't ever tried Seventeen ever (well maybe when I was 14 or so but that doesn't count!). I always thought they were pricey and, like you said, for a slightly younger audience. However, I might have a look out for that lipstick – I want a nice orange/red!

I love Instant Glow Shimmer Blocks. I tend to use them for nights out though as I find them to be a little too intense for everyday. x

Seventeen's Stay Pout lipstick was one of the first lipsticks I brought actually and it never did me wrong! I must say I am loving the look of Glow Shimmer Block, it looks so much more expensive than it actually is. You look great by the way! 🙂

believe it or not, I have never tried anything from them. But the bronzing block does look pretty similar to my Bobbi Brown one and I like the sound of the lipstick.
