Wing Fest London 2022

Smokeshed chicken wings - wing fest london 2022

Wing Fest is the world’s biggest chicken wing festival, showcasing the best chicken wings that the UK has to offer from street food traders up and down the country.

I got tickets for the London event at London Stadium in Stratford in July and we were blessed with gorgeous weather for the day! The entry ticket price included a free American trucker-style hat, and then we had access to over 40 different street food traders, restaurants and BBQ teams. The wings were priced at £1 per wing, and you could buy them in different quantities. There were lots of bars too and live music & eating competitions throughout the day.

I tried a few different traders at the London Wing Fest, including Smokeshed, Mother Flipper & The Woozy Pig. Hungry? Time to read on…

Smokeshed

From Smokeshed, I tried the Jack Sparrow chicken wings, especially created for Wing Fest. The rum infused and beer glazed BBQ wing was sensational. It had the most intense smokey vibes and it just tasted absolutely incredible. The nicest and most flavoursome coating and chicken that just melted off the bone – a winning combo! We knew we were off to a great start after trying this!

Mother Flipper UK

Next up I tried the Korean wings from Mother Flipper – and boy were they worth the long queue time! The crispy coating on these chicken wings were just something else – so so crunchy and flavoursome it was unreal. The crispy fried chicken wings had a delicious gochujang glaze and deep fried cashew nuts & garlic chives scattered on top.

The Woozy Pig loaded fries - wing fest london 2022

The Woozy Pig

I had a craving for some loaded fries, so I visited The Woozy Pig stand and tried the loaded seasoned fries, piled high with beef brisket, a thick smokey BBQ sauce and crispy onions. The beef brisket just melted in the mouth and the smokey sauce soaked into the crunchy fries so perfectly.

My only regret is that I wish I had been able to eat more, but I was stuffed after only sampling 3 stands and having a few ciders. I’d love to go again but in a bigger group next time so that I can try more, and there were some fun looking bars and drinking games to get involved with next time too!
