When it comes to planning a city break, I love spending hours researching the city for things to do, what to see and the best restaurants and bars to visit.
I never really think about the practicality and finding a good hotel first – which luckily is what my boyfriend James is very good at! He found Acta Mimic in Barcelona last year, a quirky little hotel just off Las Ramblas with a theatre-style interior and a picturesque rooftop bar.
When researching for things to do in Prague, I found myself looking around the Old Town area, so James found a great deal on booking.com for 987 Prague Hotel. The hotel looked smart on the outside, and the interior certainly matched it.
Central location
987 Prague Hotel is an exclusive and modern hotel, located between New Town and Old Town, an ideal location for exploring the city in a weekend. The interior is elegant and sophisticated, with some homely touches added in for good measure.
The hotel is within walking distance to both the New Town of Prague with the famous Wenceslas Square and the Old Town or Prague with its stunning Old Town Square. (From this hotel it took us around 20 minutes to get to the Old Town Square). The hotel is just a stones throw from the main train station and underground station Hlavní nádraží, and a 30 minute drive from the airport.
History behind 987 Prague Hotel
The building dates back to the 19th century, when it was originally constructed for living quarters. The hotel has a smart and sophisticated urban interior, with 80 air-conditioned spacious rooms and suites, decorated with stylish designer pieces. Each room has soundproof windows installed, as well as LCD TVs, air-conditioning, free WiFi and in-room safes.
Amenities
The hotel has a hip lobby bar serving food and drink throughout the day, two spacious meeting rooms and a dining room. The hotel is easy to navigate around, with a central lift to take you to your floor. Breakfast is also included in the price of the hotel, which is a lovely touch as most hotels charge for breakfast on top.
James and I stayed in a Duplex Suite, a unique two-floor spacious apartment-style room on the highest floor of the building, with modern and comfortable equipment and a little terrace. On first impressions, we couldn’t believe our luck! The two-floor apartment was super spacious, clean and airy with a pretty view over the city. We had sofas downstairs and a dining area, and upstairs we had a king size bed and ensuite.
The room was a little slice of luxury for our time in the city, for a really cheap price as well of £155 for the both of us for 3 nights. Not only was the hotel impressive, but the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful too, showing us how to get to the city centre and where the local supermarket was (to buy ALL the white chocolate covered Oreos!).
987 Prague Hotel was a wonderful base for our trip to the Christmas markets, so if you ever find yourself in Prague, I’d thoroughly recommend 987 Prague Hotel!
This looks like such a beautiful hotel and I can’t believe it was that cheap! I went to Prague about 10 years ago with my mum and I’ve been dying to go back ever since – it’s such a beautiful city! xx

The hotel looks lovely, that room is so big. £220 for 3 nights sounds like very good value for money.
