May: My Month in Photos

hannatalks may 2017 my month in photos

Another month passes so it’s time for another Month in Photos post – 2017 is flying past at an alarming rate!

I’ve had a good month. I went to Pisa, attended a few Essex bloggers events and had a lovely chilled bank holiday weekend with James. Without further ado, here’s what I’ve been up to this month!

Bank holiday weekend in Pisa

At the end of April/beginning of May, I went on holiday with Jade to Pisa for the bank holiday weekend. Our last holiday was to Budapest in January, so we fancied going somewhere much warmer this time, that didn’t require layers of scarves, gloves and jackets! We had the best weekend exploring Pisa and Florence, and the weather was so beautiful whilst we were there. We visited the Leaning Tower of Pisa for many cones of gelato, and even went to the top of it on our last day! Keep your eyes peeled for the 72 hours in Pisa guide. 🙂

Eating in Pisa

Jade and I ate like kings (queens?) whilst in Italy, and I’m super bloody happy to say that despite eating pasta, bread and ice cream every day – I managed to lose 3 pounds!! We had the most incredible heart shaped pizzas in Florence, delicious home made gelato in Pisa and many bowls of pasta and garlic bread. I’ve recently blogged about what to eat and drink in Pisa, so head there for an in-depth guide and all the foodie photos!

Day trip to Florence

Whilst we were in Pisa, we decided to dedicate a day to visiting Florence. So we hopped on the train, (which took less than an hour) and had a great day walking, exploring and eating! I’ll divulge more into what we did in the 72 hours in Pisa guide, but we racked up over 30,000 steps and had the best day exploring.

New menu preview at Wagamama

Intu Lakeside invited myself and James to review the new Wagamama menu and we had a great evening chatting and of course, eating! We tried dozens of starters and their brand new main course dishes. The sticky pork belly was my favourite dish – so soft, melt in the mouth, sticky and flavoursome!

Press night with Island Stories

Island Stories invited me down to their press night evening, where we got to sample mini burger sliders, moroccan chicken and caramelised steak – to name but a few dishes! The desserts were incredible too, my favourite being the chocolate delice with passionfruit jelly, so sickly yet so indulgent!

New menu preview at Turtle Bay

Turtle Bay invited myself and James down to my local restaurant in Chelmsford to try out Turtle Bay’s new summer menu. I’ve been to Turtle Bay before for their VIP launch, so it was nice to visit again in the day time! The restaurant was bustling with people and the atmosphere was fun and friendly. We reviewed a three course meal each and a drink, but I still can’t get the spicy fries out of my head – they tasted incredible! Salty with a lovely spicy kick, would definitely recommend those.

Essex Digital Awards

I went to the Essex Digital Awards with work and the rest of the team for an evening of eating, mingling and congratulating Essex businesses that won awards on the night. It was a great night and I enjoyed finding out about new companies in Essex. It made me excited as to what I could achieve in a digital marketing career!

Snatched

I watched Snatched at the cinema and it was such a funny film. Amy Schumer doesn’t usually make me laugh but her lines were super funny in this film. It’s an easy film to follow and there are some incredibly funny moments that you totally don’t expect to happen!

The Alchemist in London

My sister turned 18 last week, so I booked the day off work and headed into London with my family for lunch and cocktails at The Alchemist, hiring pedalows at Hyde Park and shopping on Oxford Street! The cocktails at The Alchemist were incredible; we ordered the Mad Hatter show stopper and bubble bath – both of which you will see on an upcoming post! I’d thoroughly recommend a visit here for quirky cocktails and delicious food. 🙂

Yorica! frozen yoghurt

Whilst in London, we hunted down Yorica! in Soho, a vegan froyo shop in London. I absolutely love froyo so I went for the big size, with mixed vanilla and raspberry froyo and strawberries and Oreo scattered on top. It was a great little price and the free unlimited sprinkles on top made it a great choice for a hot day in London!

Bank holiday weekend

This bank holiday was a lot more chilled; I sunbathed all weekend at James’ and managed to tan a little – yay! We also had a BBQ and caught up Born To Kill – so a lovely chilled weekend for us.

Travel Pandora bracelet

I don’t tend to buy souvenirs when I go on holiday, so I’ve decided to make a travel Pandora bracelet where I buy a Pandora charm for every holiday I go on. So far, I’ve got a charm for Tenerife, Brighton, Barcelona and Pisa, and I’m just waiting to find one to represent Budapest.

So far for June I’m going to the Capital Summertime Ball and a silent disco at the London Aquarium.

I’m looking forward to seeing what else June will have in store for me!

Ahh Pisa sounds lovely! Me and my friend are heading to Italy this year but we haven’t decided where to yet – Pisa and the surrounding area is a strong contender though. I can’t wait to eat ALL the pizza & gelato <3 x

What a lovely way to start May! My friend and I are thinking of using the August bank holiday to travel to Budapest or Berlin, but Pisa & Florence sound like a lovely idea too – I’ll have to pose them as an option!
