April flew by, but I managed to cram in trips to restaurants, blogger events and a holiday!
I think I’ve spent every my month in photos post saying, “I can’t believe we’re in month X now, where has this year gone?!” but it’s true, where HAS this year gone???
We’re a month away from being half way through the year and it’s absolutely mad.
The month has totally run away from me, but here’s what I’ve been up to this month!
Creme egg rocky road
James and I made a batch of Creme egg rocky road and oh my god, it was INSANE. It took less than 15 minutes to prepare, and after a 2 hour chill in the fridge, it was time to eat. The chocolate melted in the mouth and the crunchy digestive was a nice bite, and of course, the creme eggs made for a nice sweet treat on top!
Coop #goodegg campaign
Coop sent me a cute hamper with easter eggs as part of their #goodegg campaign. I decided to share mine with the family over Easter, for being good eggs!
Fiorelli handbags for the summer
I treated myself to two new Fiorelli hand bags that I’m so excited to use in the summer! Both are over the shoulder and have several compartments for me to store all of my usual handbag-crap in. I’m so excited to use the pale grey and metallic one, such a lovely Summery bag that I’m sure will go with everything.
Las Iguanas vegetable platter
I went out for dinner with Jade at Westfield and we headed to Las Iguanas for food and drinks. We always go a little crazy on the 2-4-1 cocktails, so we went for a strawberry daquiri and cosmo, then a mini egg cocktail for dessert! I fancied an all vegetable dinner, so went for the haloumi skewers and harrasa fries with salad for dinner. Haloumi is life, am I right??!
Oli Baba’s haloumi fries in Camden
James and I headed into Camden on the first sunny weekend in April, for street food and drinks at a pub. We tried Oli Baba’s haloumi fries which were super delicious. The coating was crunchy and the cheese squidgy, with a delicious drizzle of natural yoghurt, mint and pomegranate seeds. I’d definitely recommend a trip there to try them!
Birthday meal at Giraffe
We went to Giraffe for my mum’s birthday and had such a good meal. I wanted to head back there after trying out their new World Menu and to try something new, but I couldn’t resist ordering the duck bao buns and katsu noodle dish again! I tried different desserts this time though, including the cookie ice cream sandwich and the banana waffle – both of which tasted amazing.
Miller & Carter in Colchester
For the first bank holiday in April, James and I headed to Colchester for a little weekend break. We stayed at The Marks Tey Hotel which is a great little hotel with good swimming facilities too! We went to Miller & Carter for the dinner on Thursday night and had a good meal, the service was pretty bad but as it had only been open a week I’d give it another shot!
Colchester Zoo
We headed to Colchester Zoo for the day and enjoyed walking around the park and seeing all the animals! My favourite animal has to be the meerkat – they’re just so cheeky and cute! The farm section is definitely a close second; the goats, and baby goats, were just adorable.
Press launch at Revolution Southend
I was invited to the launch of Revolution in Southend for an evening of cocktails, food and good company! We got to make our own cocktails on the night, and had a guided tour of the brand new bar and restaurant. Split across two levels, the decor is edgy and cosy, with a really great atmosphere. The Upper Terrace was my favourite room. Decorated with pale laminated wood, soft cream furniture and a grass and flower back wall made it a cosy but bright environment to be in. I can’t wait to head back for cocktails and food!
Garlic fries. GARLIC FRIES.
We were gifted a complimentary meal at the Revolution launch night but it was so hard to choose what to have – the menu is incredible! I finally settled with a buttermilk chicken burger with cheese, bacon and deep fried pickles (!!) and a side of garlic fries. My god, those fries. Deliciously fluffy potato with a crunchy coating, drizzled with garlic oil, parsley and chunks of garlic. A garlic lovers idea of heaven right there!
City Bowl in Essex
I really enjoy bowling and find it good competitive fun, so James, Dad and I headed to our local bowling alley for an evening of bowling, drinks and playing pool!
Weekend break to Pisa
I flew out to Pisa on the 28th of April and landed yesterday, 1st May. I have a horrible case of Holiday Blues but I had such a great time in Italy. I can’t wait to blog about all the pizza, spaghetti and gelato we ate, and the beautiful sights of Pisa!
I have a couple blog events planned for May and that’s about it…
I’m looking forward to seeing what May has in store for me!
Ahhh basically I have come away from reading this post thinking only about fries. ALL of the fries. I think the concept of harissa fries sound absolutely incredible, but then again so do those garlic fries.. And I’ve already had the halloumi ones once before, but I’d like to have them again. Basically, can I just have them all of the food you mentioned?! x

Ah babe it sounds like you’ve had a wonderful month. I really like this idea of post as the visuals helps us see it as well as read it. I’m in love with the Fiorelli orange bag! It’s beaut!
Deep fried pickles, it’s the first time I hear about them, but I would like to try them. You had a very busy month, really lovely. xx
