Budapest in 48 hours: What I Want To Do

I haven’t been on a city break
before, so now I have some time off and I want to explore Europe, I’ve found my
first place to visit…

I’m going on holiday to Budapest
with my best friend Jade, yay!

I wrote a post last month on 5 European city breaks I would love to go on, and it got me thinking.

I’ve got some time to book off at
work, and now that I’m working Monday – Friday, with weekends free, I’d only
need to book a day off to go on a long weekend break.

So that’s what we did, booked a
long weekend break to Budapest in January to soak up the culture, try all the
local food and make the most of cheap wine.

We’ve booked to stay at Prestige Budapest and I’m so flipping
excited about it, it looks like such a beautiful hotel and it’s sandwiched in-between
all the touristy places to visit.

Plus, they do free wine and cheese
afternoons every day so, sign me up!

We’re flying out early Thursday
morning and flying home early Sunday morning.

After we land on Thursday, we want
to check in at the hotel, freshen up and then get a taxi to Szechenyi Baths; the largest medicinal
bath in Europe supplied by two natural thermal springs. There are 3 outdoor
pools and 15 indoor pools.

I’ve checked the weather for January,
and it averages between 0 to -10, so it’s going to be pretty chilly!

But, it’s all about the experience…
right?!

We don’t have anything else really
set in stone, other than we’d like to walk and explore everywhere, including
the Chain Bridge, Buda Castle, Hungarian parliament, Shoes on the Danube Bank,
a river cruise and a trip to a Ruin bar… so plenty to explore!

But what I really want to know is,
have YOU been to Budapest before?

And if yes, what places do you
recommend visiting? Restaurants you’d recommend? Cafes you love? Museums that are
interesting?

Hit me up with your suggestions!
