Intu Lakeside launched their Christmas Village night last night, with bloggers, VIP guests, a member of parliament and the Intu Lakeside manager, Marc Myers attending!
The event took place in the Ice Rink and as soon as myself and Zoe got in, we huddled around the bar and ordered a hot chocolate. It’s served with cream and marshmallows – the perfect Christmassy irresitable treat!
The ice rink is a massive 600msq and sheltered within a protective dome. The Crystal Bar just offside the rink serves hot drinks, cocktails, beer and of course, your traditional mulled wine! The ice rink will be open from Saturday 12th November until Sunday 1st January at varying times, and prices to skate start at just £7.75!
After about an hour long discussion and pep talk from Zoe about braving it to skate… I finally put some skates on and made my way around the rink. I say made it round… I held onto the side the whole way round but nevertheless, I did a lap! There’s a DJ just offside the rink playing feel-good music, so it’s a really lovely atmosphere! The ice rink is also holding two silent discos which would be such good fun! For anyone wondering… there’s a car in the centre of the rink as Volvo are sponsoring it this year!
Intu Lakeside also gifted some lovely goodies for the bloggers
attending. Including some Intu branded gloves and umbrella, alongside a
Hotel Chocolat advent calendar, yankee candles and perfume!
The Christmas Village looks incredible. There’s a Santas Grotto for children that’s open from Saturday the 12th of November, right through to Saturday the 24th of December! Playmobil have teamed up with the Grotto and are gifting each child a Ploymobil toy! For just £6 this is a fabulously Christmassy experience, there’s lots of interactive features inside to keep little ones entertained!
The Christmas Village will be home to a Christmas market this year, with
stands selling unique gifts, crafts and trinkets, alongside tasty food
stands selling bratwurst sausage, mulled wine and sweet treats! There’s
also some fair ground rides to keep everyone entertained, so you really
can make a day out of it.
The Christmas switch on will take place tomorrow (November 12th) from 4:30pm, with appearances from Hamleys and CBeebies Cook and Line! There will also be a parade and firework display, so there’s something for everyone!
The Christmas Village and Ice Rink is in Car Park 3, just near House of Fraser.
The event really got me in the Christmassy mood, and despite my epic fail of an attempt to skate, I’d love to check out more ice skating rinks in the region!
I am part of the Intu VIB group and was invited by Voice Communications to the event.
All photographs, words and Christmas excitement is my own!
