I love learning, tasting and writing about food, so I visited Borough Market in London to sample the food and have a little explore…
I’m loving this whole ‘weekend to myself’ malarkey.
So on Saturday, I went to Borough Market in London. Borough Market is one of London’s oldest food markets, serving the people of Southwark for hundreds of years, and continues to welcome people from all over the world to enjoy the atmosphere and of course, the food!
Jade and I had a good ol’ explore of all the food, drink and flower stands it had to offer and really soaked up the atmosphere. It was packed full of people and we got there fairly early, so if you’re hoping to have a good close up snoop on the food then get there early!
Our first meal were these delicious burgers; I had a sausage and herb patty, rocket and melted cheese burger and Jade had two herby sausages, both were packed inside a crunchy bread roll. It was delicious and so flavoursome, and really hit the spot for a day of grazing!
We walked around the market to get a really good feel for the place. There were dozens of stands, selling delicious fresh street food, non-perishable goods, home made bakes and sweet treats. I found the doughnut stand that Honeypotblogs instagrammed and my god, the doughnuts are amazing! It was hard to make a decision, but I went for the honey comb and sea salt doughnut, and treated J to a hazelnut and praline one! Girlfriend points n’ all that!
We walked around the market again to check out a few more stands; there’s plenty of stands here to really make a day out of it. Everything from a fish monger to butchery, oyster bars and cheese stands, fresh flowers and home made crockery – so there’s something for everyone.
Jade picked up some amazing-looking jammy dodgers and I treated my family to some toffee and fudge. I picked up the Cornish sea salt fudge, caramel toffee and the most amazing peanut butter/honeycomb/brownie fudge which tasted just incredible!
I spent a little more £ than expected on the food, but 1) it’s London prices and 2) it’s a treat, plus, it’s not something you do every weekend! You could easily get by eating the samples the various stands have to offer, but it’s much better to indulge in the whole thing!
I’d love to visit again and try more of the street food on offer. There were various chinese, thai and exotic cuisines on offer too, so I really want to try those out next time!
If you’re in or around the area, or fancy a day out in London, I’d definitely recommend a trip to Borough Market!
I love going there for some yummy junk food on weekends :p the doughnuts look amazing!

Spending way too much money on food? Sounds like my life story haha! But it's all so tempting in London isn't it? Those donuts look blood divine.
