Somerset | Weston Sand Sculpture Festival 2016

I’m back down to Somerset for my week off of work and I visited the Weston Sand Sculpture display today to see what it was offering for its 2016 theme ‘When I Grow Up’…

This year marks their 11th year at Weston-super-Mare, and the theme was When I Grow Up. The sculptors created pieces that reflected what they wanted to do when they were older, and what their families see them as, i.e. one piece was from their child’s perspective, who sees them as super man! Cute.

The weather was scorching today, it was nice to take a stroll around the beach and chill with our soleroes. My favourite sculpture has to be the first photograph, of the young boy with question marks imprinted into the skin. It’s so intricate and detailed and well thought out!

The exhibition runs from the 25th of March to the 9th of October, 7 days a week from 10 – 6. Prices start at just £3 and it’s an excellent little day out if you find yourself in Somerset this summer!
