Showcase Cinema de Lux Bluewater Launch

Showcase Cinema de Lux Bluewater Launch

I love going to the cinema. I love watching all the exciting film trailers with sweet popcorn in one hand and a Tango ice blast in the other. But I’m not so keen on the hard chairs, limited leg room and people running up and down the aisles.

Showcase however provided an unforgettable experience like no other with their brand new XPlus screen in Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent.

Showcase Cinema de Lux is a modern multiscreen cinema with digital projection and sound protection in 17 screens with stadium-style seating. Showcase Cinema de Lux has been based at Bluewater Shopping Centre for 19 years, and is the first Showcase cinema in the UK to have the existing screens converted.

James and I were invited to the launch of their brand new XPlus screen refurbishment this month, and we were seriously impressed!

I’m used to visiting my local Odeon or Empire near James, so the size of the XPlus screen was absolutely insane and totally blows other cinema screens out of the water. It stands at an incredible 30ft tall and 60ft wide, with a bright and sharp laser projection and immersive Dolby Atmos Sound.

You can experience a film in true comfort and style with the fully customisable leather recliner seats here, which are incredibly soft and comfortable. You can adjust the seat using the pad on the right hand side, giving you a fully customisable experience when watching a film.

To celebrate the launch of the “upsizing”, James and I were invited down for the evening to watch a premier of the film, Downsizing!

Downsizing film poster

Downsizing is an American science fiction comedy-drama film, starring Matt Damon, Christoph Waltz, Hong Chau and Kristen Wiig. The plot is of a couple who decide to undertake a newly-invented shrinking procedure so they can start a new life in an experimental community. The wife changes her mind last minute and the husband is left to reassess his life choices, whilst meeting a variety of people along the way.

IMO, it started off as in interesting concept of a film, but the plot made no sense and the ending was pretty abrupt. I was expecting it to be an amazing film (considering Matt Damon was in it) but still, it was an easy watch! Especially as Showcase provided all guests with sweet popcorn and water! 😉

You can really make a treat of going to a Showcase cinema, whether it be with friends, family or a partner. There are dozens of dining options including The Gallery Bar, The Lounge Bar and a handy Costa bar, and plenty of snack and food options to treat yourself to.

To help celebrate the launch of the brand new screens at Showcase Cinema de Lux Bluewater, UK’s tallest man Paul Sturgess attended the event to put the cinema to the test! Paul, who stands at 7ft 7in, put the screens to the test and showed how comfortable and relaxed he was in the plush customisable recliner seats!
