August 2017: My Month in Photos

Hannatalks August 2017 month in photos

Is it me or has August seriously dragged on? I think it’s because of the lack of sunshine, warmth and the good ol’ vitamin D…

…but with that being said, I have managed to squeeze a fair amount into the month!

Illness at the beginning of the month

Totally unrelated picture but at the time, all I wanted was to be sipping on fresh coconut juice! At the end of July, I went to Tropical Wings Zoo for a day out with my boyfriend and sister, and I must’ve been bitten whilst I was there as I had really itchy bites when I got home. I woke up the next morning to the bites turning into blisters and my foot becoming infected. After a day on antibiotics I was really poorly, and it turned out I ended up being allergic to the antibiotics! It was a horrible sicky week but I’m so glad it’s all over now!

Home made BBQ

Mums home made BBQ food is just the best, especially the kebabs, made with chicken, pepper, onion and courgette. There’s nothing better than grilled, charcoal food – am I right?!

Dinner at ASK Italian

I went to ASK for dinner with a work colleague and had the most chilled evening sipping on cocktails and tucking into delicious, fresh Italian food! The garlic bread for stater was delicious, and the baked meatball pasta is my absolute fav dish there.

Brighton Pier

I just love Brighton pier. Salty sea air, breeze through your hair, hot sugary doughnuts and wasting time on crappy arcade games. ❤️

Weekend in Brighton

James and I went to Brighton for the night to celebrate our year anniversary, and had a lovely relaxed meal and drinks. The night out was a wash out – quite literally because of the awful weather – but we’re hoping to visit again soon, and hopefully I’ll be able to hack drinking on nights out for a little longer!!

Dinner at Jamie’s Italian

We went to Jamie’s Italian for our anniversary meal, it was okay but nothing to shout about. The service was pretty slow and the food mediocre, but my warm brownie, popcorn and salted caramel dessert more than made up for all of it. Well, almost.

Brighton beach

I’ll never get bored of the beautiful view from Brighton Pier. I just love it there. ❤️

Dinner at Cafe Rouge

I was invited along to Cafe Rouge at Lakeside to review their new Summer menu, and had a great night with James sipping prosecco and sampling all the delicious, fresh dishes. Have a read of my blog post on it, and let me know what dish you would love to try!

Porc Schnitzel and celeriac slaw

I had the porc schnitzel, fries and celeriac slaw for my main and it was incredible. The pork fillet was piping hot, tender and had the crunchiest coating, and the creamy celeriac slaw worked perfectly to give it a fresh taste. I’m so glad I went out of my comfort zone and tried something a little different – I can’t wait to head back to Cafe Rouge to order it again.

Home made s’mores

After another BBQ one weekend, we decided to make s’mores for dessert. We toasted XL marshmallows, and sandwiched them between a milk chocolate and dark chocolate digestive, with a spoonful of nutella and peanut butter. It was SO. FRIGGIN. GOOD.

V Festival Chelmsford

V Festival is super close to where I live – so close in fact I can hear it from my back garden! – so James and I headed down on Sunday for a day of feasting on festival food, drinking cider and dancing to all our favourite acts. Jason Derulo was of course INCREDIBLE as always, and Jay Z was a fab headliner too!

Last BBQ of the Summer

Y’know when you look back through your photos and think… “Ah, this is why I’ve put on weight”… oops. But life’s too short to worry about that! I spent my bank holiday weekend cleaning and clearing out James shed and multiple trips to the tip, so fingers crossed that balanced out the food! We had a fab meaty BBQ, basking in Londons glorious sunset. A bank holiday weekend well spent!

So August has been food. food. food. Oops.

September will see me booking more driving lessons, booking in for a well needed hair cut and colour, going to concerts and waving my little sister off to University – scary times!

What do you have planned in September?

Aside from being sick, it looks like you had a pretty good month. The food looks yummy. I especially love kebabs, though I haven’t had those in a long time.
