5 European City Breaks I Would Love to Go On

I love going on holiday, like anyone would, but there’s something about City breaks that really catches my eye. I love learning about new cultures, foods and way of life. Here are the five places I’d love to visit…

Budapest

I have always wanted to visit
Budapest, I’m intrigued to learn more about their culture, politics and
architecture – as well as visiting the food markets, pubs and the Szechenyi
Baths!

Katy’s blog post
has made me want to go and explore the city, and hunt out all the best brunch
spots!

I’d love to take a short trip by
boat to find out more history, and there are walking tours taking place on a
daily basis, to find out the history of Budapest.

I really want to try out Budapest’s
delicacies too, including Gulyás (goulash), Kürtőskalács (chimney cake) and Rántott
Sajt (fried cheese).

FRIED CHEESE PEOPLE.

THIS IS NOT A DRILL.

I’d love to visit Budapest to see
the river Danube, the Chain Bridge, Buda Castle and the Szechenyi baths!

Amsterdam

After reading Laura’s blog post
on her long weekend in Amsterdam, I’ve wanted to visit ever since!

When I think of Amsterdam… it’s of
the red-light district and its association with drugs.

But, there’s so much more to it
than that. And I really want to explore that!

Anne Frank’s House would of course
be top of the list of things to do and see. I can imagine it would be
incredibly moving and emotional, but it’s something that I want to experience.

Alongside strolling along the
canals and visiting The Sex Museum, I really want to try out Amsterdam Glow Golf!

I love crazy golf so playing
3D, glow in the dark golf seems like good fun to me!

Barcelona

I love the thought of Barcelona
because I love that it’s got the best of both worlds – the city and a beach.

The Sagrada Familia looks beautiful
– I just want to photograph the Gothic interior and exterior, the stained-glass
windows and art work.

There’s a harbour too, called Port
Vell, and it would be an evening well spent to stroll around and look at all
the boats.

Despite not being a fan of
football… I’d still enjoy looking around Camp Nou, Spain’s largest stadium. J
would be pretty impressed to go here I recon!

I wouldn’t mind trying tapas and
wine as well, and just sit and soak up the culture.

Copenhagen

Another inspiration from Katy’s blog about
Copenhagen!

The beautiful coloured houses at
the picturesque harbour in Nyhavn caught my eye, I bet there are plenty of
restaurants and cafes nestled into the back street.

They seem to be big fans of
cheesecake and lattes sooooo that’s a yes from me.

The Tivoli Gardens look beautiful
to stroll around, but maybe that would be better suited for the warmer weather.

I love a good visit to a castle as
well, so I’d definitely want to add Rosenborg Castle to my list.

Paris

I visited Paris when I was 10 for
my dad’s birthday, we went to Disneyland Paris and then had a day out in
central Paris.

I visited Paris again on a school
trip when I was 14, but even then, it was a flying visit to the Eiffel Tower
and back to the hotel.

I’d love to visit Notre Dame
Cathedral, to see its architecture and iconic gargoyles.

I love bus tours, so I’d definitely
want to check out Paris in the comfort of a cosy bus.

And of course, with it being Paris
I’d have to try all the wines, cheeses,
pastries, and coffees…

Fingers crossed I get to go on some city breaks this year!

Please send me any links of your blog posts or recommendations to these places!

Photos not my own, all from Pinterest. (except the first one, which is mine).

I've only been to Germany and that was 10 years ago! I can't wait to do another visit to Europe and hopefully it'll be a longer one so I can visit a few countries in my list. And you can never go wrong with Paris!

I'm yet to tick off Budapest from my travel-wishlist as well, I keep reading amazing travel diaries on the place haha! I think you'd love Barcelona, it's such an incredible city (especially the Gothic Quarter) and great idea to visit Anne Frank's house if you find yourself in Amsterdam anytime soon, it's a very moving experience.
